People always ask what disks are 'must haves' for collectors or 'best disk to show off my amp / speakers...' but what I want to know is what are the most embarressing disks people own. Movies you like and bought but your friends and relatives always say "you bought what!!!"

For me it has to be 'Bedazzled' nice premise of a movie that never really gets you hooked.

I bought it purely for Liz hurley, she cant act for ****e but excels at looking the biz....

    Regards

    Good question :D

I actually don't have many at all simply because I regularly get rid of unwanted discs to keep my collection 'streamlined'. The only disc I've got that is truely BAD is Deep Rising - absolute sh@t but somehow fun.....

I recently bought the R1 Anchor Bay version of "Cut & Run".

Nice presentation, and documentary, awful, awful film. Odious, grade Z exploitation fodder, with little or no redeeming quality.

    Will consider swapping ;)

The DVD that has caused the most **** take from my mates is the Platinum DVD test thingy. Has marked me as a geek quite a few times now. Tend to hide it away.

The worse film i own is "Inspector Gadget" R2, this film could have been so much fun. But they made a complete mess of it.

Others which i'm not ashamed of, but other may snigger are:-
    Home Alone
    Willie Wonka "....." etc
    Brassed off
    Gremlins

The scariest film i own is "Crash" R2. (Bought it for £7.49 from Plays cheapy list etc). I had no idea it was so sick!.
But why is it the scariest film i own?.
    Since owning it:-
Wife had bump in the car a week since it's arrival.
I then got hit by a old git whilst driving her car.
I then borrowed the film to a friend, who had two big crashes within a month!.
His wife then reversed into somebody house.

Word got round my circle of friends, and strangely nobody wanted to borrow it?!.
However out of the ten or so people i told about it, 8 had minor collisions within the same month!.

So either i've got some very sick friends, or it was all just a coincidence!.

Since i'm not supersitious in any shape or form, i will just put it down to a amazing run of events. (Touch wood!) :D

For me it has to be "The Stars of Star Wars", not because of the subject content but because it is the most awfully put together disc in existence having no official content whatsoever. It's full of interviews (nothing wrong with that) but they are interviews given to others rather than the film makers. Many aren't from the case but ones of celebrities at the premieres of the Original Trilogy Special Editions talking about how much they anticipated or loved loved the movies.

    An utter waster of time.

Batman & Robin is the worst disc I own.
I bought it when I first started My DVD collection way back in 1998. If I knew then what I know now, would not have touched this disc with a barge pole!

    Hi,

For me, I guess that a lot of people would think the following are/were questionable titles to own:

    - Cannibal Ferox
    - Cannibal Holocaust
    - I Spit On Your Grave (Uncut US edition)
    - the entire "Urotsukidoji" series!

However, I don't believe I have any truly "bad" films on DVD, and certainly none as dire as some of the titles mentioned like "Batman & Robin", or "Barb Wire"!!!

Having said that, I did buy but quickly sold-on "Faces of Death: Special Edition", which was truly nauseating!

Bad films hardly ever approach my collection, I do a lot of vetting first. I hardly ever buy a film I think I might not like, and on the rare occasion I do, it goes straight to the used DVD store.

Just like 'The One' finally will be this weekend.

Others would probably laugh at me for the following movies:

Casablanca - even my last gf didn't like it ...

The Last Boyscout - I admit it's an awfull movie but was one of my early purchases)

Streets of Fire - just like it, don't know why!?

The Shadow - my first DTS DVD ... that's all I can say in support of that DVD

Thunderbirds Vol I + II - only saw fractions of it when I was a kid, picked them up quite cheaply in Australia

Truly bad releases / DVDs are:

Highlander (R1) - crap picture, crap sound

Transformers the Movie and Transformers Series 1 part 1.
Currently on shelf but will be hidden away soon just in case friend's see them :D
A bit sad perhaps but got them cos I loved the cartoons when I was a kid. Might even be worth some money in 200 yrs time :)

File these worst DVDs under "Inexplicable Chick Flicks" - I have to suffer through the likes of ballet flick, "Centre Stage" and the aforementioned "She's All That" (Which at least has Sarah Michelle Gellar in it for a few seconds), because my better half enjoys surreally atrocious flicks.

I've tried educating her with Kevin Smith movies, but there's nothing doing....

Makes you wonder what kind of impression you have on people if your 'friends' obviously thought you'd like it...

Fortunately I have no friends that bad, it was from the girlfriends sister. Goddam weirdo she is, why would she think a breast obsessed person such as myself would be interested in Tomb Raider? with all it's tight clothing and bouncing around on big elastic bands, what was she thinking???

    :)
