After replacing a burned out shift focus module, our barco began arcing from somewhere. It seemed like it was coming from the electronics under the crts. I'm afraid to turn it back on. Is there a likely culprit or usual suspect for this behavior?

That sounds like the splitter which is the cream coloured box with the four big EHT leads (1 in 3 out)
Try to see if in the dark you can see where it is coming from.
Sometimes the focus lead gets damaged and earths.
Check all the red EHT leads for marks and burns.
keep your fingers and head out of the projector whilst looking for EHT leaks you could become it's next earth.
