i currently have the MS 903's as the rears on a 5.1 set up with the marantz sr5300
i am going to add two other rear speakers and wire them in series for 6.1
my question is aimed at the MS guy that lurks on these forums.
would the sound be improved if i got the 503's and used them as ther rear sides and wired the 903's as the center rear.

    Would they match?
    How much improvment if any?
    How much do they cost?
    is it worth it?
my room is 3.5 by 2.9 meters. i have two arm chairs that sit about 2.5ft from the rears.
    Thanks

I assume you mean the 506 dipole? They will certainly produce a bigger sound than the 903- although I warn you that they're huge (the main reason why I traded down from a THX pack when I bought my own house). If performance overides any concerns over decor, then they will improve the performance of the system. I don't neccesarily recommend using 2x903's in series on the back of a 5300 as both speakers are 4ohms nominal. Trading them in and buying a 304, 905, 504 depending on budget would be a better bet for sound/ amp longevity.

If you have the means to mount it (I would suggest www.omnimount.com ) a 905 is the best bet (if of course you can come to terms with owning an Avant version ;) ) but I personally use a 304 as my centre rear as it wall mounts much more easily. Buying a single 304 to go for 6.1 would be the cheapest and simplest option that would offer a good improvement- especially as the mids and tweeters would be identical across the rear span (assuming you keep the 903's).

Would be a bit too diffused- I think the idea of the centre rear is that it should be a monopole.
    506 (pair) is £480
