    hi,
Following on from my other thread.
Just purchased mordaunt short 904's for front and 902's for rear along with the 309 for the sub.
just wondered if the 304 center speaker will be to small and should i get the 905 instead and use the 304 for 6.1.

    cheers
    eddie

    Hi Eddie

I have a similar setup, well totally different realy!!! with 906 fronts and 302 rears, I have the 905C as the centre and will be using the now redundant 304 for the rear centre when we finally move house.
The 905c is a big improvment ( in my opinion) over the 304, Maybe a demo of them both would be a good way to help you make a decision on if the improvement is worth the money.

    Hope this helps

    Chris

I tried to mix a 304 centre with some 902's but I found that it really didn't blend in well at all, so a week later I returned it and moved up to the 905C. Given that there's only a 20 quid price difference between the two I'd go for 905C every time as the difference in sound quality between the two is rather substantial, plus I'd imagine that with your 904's you'd notice the difference in sound even more than I did.

    Meaning?

The 304 often gets used in mix and match systems with the larger MS speakers but as people have stated, it won't do quite as good a job as the larger 905. In terms of "effort", in terms of centre speakers, much of that has been directed at the Performance 5 which constituted a fair amount of it :).

Meaning if you read the description of drivers, you might notice something odd.
I never find it inspiring if QC cannot even check the advertised product for mistakes.

    Hi
Cheers for the replies have now bought the 904's for front 902's for rear and the 905 for the center.

I have another question now as will hopefully be wiring it all in over the weekend is it worth bi-wiring them and can i use another set of 902's to make 7.1 or would it be better to buy the 914's use these as fronts the 904's for rear and the 902's for the 7.1
A quick reply would be appreciated as will need to buy speakers today
    regards
    eddie

Another set of 902's would probably be best. That said it could be worth using a pair of 903's for surrounds and 902's for rear surrounds.

I doubt you'd overpower them but 4x 902's will probably be better if you have the space.

I doubt it, it tends to make a difference if poor crossover design is present. Biwiring is a contentious issue. Personally i would use a better single run of cable. The cynics of us believe it to be a mis-spelling. Buy-wiring anyone?

Hi im a bit late on most of this but for what its worth i have the 906 fornts with the 905 903 for side and just a pair the 302 s at the back i would say that the 903 will do a better job for the side due to the fact that as is there purpose sound from them is difficult to locate and just blends in (i tend to wonder if theyre working sometimes) and then as sound passes the the rear the effects stearing comes back in a little more.
Funnily enough i bought them to a fair extent on the advice of tons who i dont think has missed an ms question ever ever.
As far as bi wiring goes ive done it but i dont think i can tell a difference but maybe im a bit deaf.

It would seem, that there perhaps is far less wrong with your hearing than you credit yourself for.
