    Hi everyone,

Can anyone help me decide which rear speakers are best for my situation?:

I have a pair of Mordaunt-Short Avant 906 floorstanders for the main channels, the matching Avant 905 centre, and an MS308 sub. I am currently using a pair of Acoustic Energy AE100i speakers (currently for sale in hardware classifieds).

I am wanting to keep the speakers as a matching setup and have two options. I can either get a pair of 902s, or go for the 903 bipolars. I would preferably choose the 903s, as they are ideal for space saving, but sound is my main concern. The only worry I have is that I have read a few posts on here saying they lack bass weight. Having said that, the sub should be taking care of that department. I think the 902s would produce sufficient bass, but don't think the effects will be as precise as the 903s.

Is there anyone out there who has experienced these speakers and can give me the best solution? Any help greatly appreciated!

One of the main factors is the ratio of films v multi channel music you are planning to use them for if its mainly for film go with the 903s

With your subwoofer properly set up, the bass response of the 903's should not be an issue. Everything that Docta Teef said is on the money, but it is also worth considering that the 903 wall mounts and needs no stand but the 902 is probably more flexible in positioning however.

Tons of fun, my main concern is sound quality. I have sufficient space for either speaker. I have Avant 906 floorstanders which as you know are very cable speakers, and I would like to complement them with whichever sounds the best.

    Which would you go for?

For 80% films (and you don't say whether the 20% music is multichannel either) I would go for the 903. I am a big fan of diffused rear speakers and was using a pair of 903's quite recently.

So, if you mainly listen to multi channel music, are 902i's best for rears?
