Got up for work at 0530 this morning, let the dog out to do his business, and it was a beautifully clear morning and there was a full(ish) moon low in the sky. First thought was compo reflections, put the dog back to bed, put the camera and tripod in the boot of the car and headed to the river.
For those that don't know it is still very dark in the mornings! In my haste to get a shot I forgot to take a torch, doh, now I have only recently got a new 70D in the last week or so, so finding some of the controls and menu's wasn't easy in the dark. Anyway by the time I got to the river some clouds had come across, not to be daunted I proceeded anyway.

Oh I was late for work and left my lunch at home as well, but it was worth it.

Very nice shot - with it being quite dark I might have been tempted to lift the exposure of the reflected part a little to match and enhance the mirror image effect :)

EDIT: having just seen the other uncropped variant composition over on the Canon thread I'm not sure if I prefer this one to the other now....

Not sure on this one, will revisit it a few times before I decide.

Thanks, If I knew how I would of?

It's 2 different shots, it was 50/50 on which one, I went for the landscape one as I thought there was more sky/river reflection. Maybe I was wrong, too late now.

    Thanks anyway. :smashin:

Because of the bad weather up to now, opportunities have been very limited, apart from indoor shots. So just went for it this morning, had little time to prepare, and work out how to use my new camera. I suppose one could wonder why the compo was the first thing I thought of at 0530 this morning!

For LR you could either use the grad filter for this, or brushed in exposure on just the bits you wanted to increase. You can use the softness and feather to blend it.

Yes I know they are different shots - just meant I prefer the portrait oriented one :)

Yep easiest is GRAD Filter in LR :)

Ok thanks, will have a look and see how it works.
What swayed me was the bubbles or whatever they are in the river on the portrait shot were slightly distracting, to my eye anyway.

Was hoping to have another go this morning, no moon and lots of rain again.:(

    Thanks all for the likes/comments.

Shame the weather wasn't so good for you, hopefully it will get better soon, roll on spring time. I was driving back from the airport this morning with beautiful moon in the distance and lovely light in the sky, (didn't have my camera though! Lol) and don't have quite such a stunning view locally as yours though.

A great reflection! I would agree with the comments about possible exposure enhancement though!
