This was the first Python film I went to see at the cinema and I'm glad it finally makes it's BD debut:

In March, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the 35th Anniversary Edition of Monty Python and the Holy Grail on Blu-ray. This classic comedy filters King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table's epic search for the Holy Grail through the absurdist sensibilities of the Monty Python's Flying Circus troupe.

Far from a traditional hero's journey, the quest - as depicted in the film - shows Arthur (Graham Chapman, Monty Python's Life of Brian) beset at all turns by dangers such as cow-catapulting Frenchmen, the dreaded Knights who say Ni, the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog, and the beyond-tenacious Black Knight.

Sony's Blu-ray/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo pack presents the film in its 1.66:1 original aspect ratio with a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio track. The disc also contains a number of bonus supplements, including:

Commentaries by Terry Gilliam & Terry Jones, plus general complaints and back-biting by John Cleese, Eric Idle & Michael Palin
Join Michael Palin and Terry Jones in their special documentary The Quest For The Holy Grail Locations

Looking forward to this, hopefully it won't look as ****** as Sony's Life of Brian BD.

(And before anyone says "it's supposed to look all dirt and gritty", I don't mean that. I'm talking about the heavy handed Lowry processing that casts frozen grain all over the place and makes it look like crap.)

Well I watched this last night and I thought it was a pretty solid Sony catalogue release, plenty of grain and the DTS-HD track did its job well.

Was quite surprised to find the extended/deleted scenes where also 1080p/24fps, was expecting blurry SD stuff so pleasantly surprised.

When I went to watch it we were treated to a Film Board of Canada short about trains before the feature.

I never considered that but Sony released this in the US and Columbia Tristar over here and I think they're both the same company. In which case it's a strong probability they'll be the same.

Yes, it's a Sony release over here too. I'll also be waiting for a sub-£10 price before picking it up.

    Looks fantastic.

The people grumbling about DNR in dark quarters of the internets, are idiots and should be treated as such.

Who are? AVS has been pretty quiet on the subject. Or do you mean the ship of fools that is blu-ray.com?

I'm interested in this but I see some worrying comments on Amazon.

So may I ask: what are these "singalongs" and why are they annoying?

Could someone confirm that the whole movie can be watched without problematic interruptions and that it's possible to go to scenes without the same?

    Cheers.

I picked this up last week in hmvs 5 for £30. Watched it (still makes me guffaw like an infant) and can confirm that I watched it both all the way through and jumping to scenes without any interruptions (you're offered the choice of playing with the second screen app thingy which i ignored - maybe this is the cause of some of those probs on amazon?).

Also great picture quality for a near 40 year old film on my pj.

    Buy away!!!
