I think this is a cable issue but apologies if not. The PQ to my Panny 42PE50 from Sky+ is fine given that it is not HD. However, when the Pioneer DVD recorder (between the two and all connected with scarts) is switched on, the PQ drops.
Current scarts are mid priced from Curry's with "gold" connection but not sure if shielded - probably not. Sky box set to RGB and the DVD recorder is in the correct mode to allow RGB to pass through.

So, the question. Will more expensive, gold palted and shielded scarts be likely (as no guarantee) to increase PQ?

    Many thanks

    HI,

First check if both scarts can carry RGB, (swap around and see) not all freebie scarts can. If not try Supra or QED RGB scarts - try Monster from Comet (you can take it back if no improvement - I think).

Try swapping the DVD and sky+ around (put the DVD rec on the end). The passthrough on my sky+ works perfectly, no difference if turned on or off. It could be a problem with the DVD rec passthrough.

If the PQ still changes, try new cables.
