    I suppose that no-one has got one of these yet ,looks like its going to be a good one to take on the svs pb10-isd.It as very simular spec and size other than it as a larger woofer and a better choice of finishes.
    Take a look HERE

    I hadn't seen that but I'd love to get my hands on one! It does seem built and priced to take a big chunk out of the PB10 market but with plenty of potential improvements, a few that spring out having compared specs:
    * Larger driver
    * Thicker cabinet all-round
    * High level and balanced inputs combined with a full set of controls
    * Proper veneer
    * AVF mug in sizing photo :laugh:

    The driver doesn't quite look like the larger version of the Peerless model used in the XLS200 so I'd be interested to find out what it is (I could be wrong after all). I'm a bit saddened to see that it's ported as I much prefer sealed sub models but clearly that would involve having a much larger amplifier module.

    Who wants to buy me one so that I can compare it to dual XLS200's then? :)

    Whoopee! Battle commences!
    This is (hopefully) going to make some rather expensive subs look even more expensive.
    Entirely British made too.
    I'll repeat what has been said before: Fine veneers, 102dB @ 20Hz, 4" port x 12" driver x 300Watts Mosfet amp, high and low level connections & proper filtration all in a pretty box.
    And dare I say it, all the bells and whistles that stopped me buying the PB10. Or even a stereo pair!
    Good for BK! They deserve to do very well with this chap.
    Now we need reviews. I have a feeling they won't be long in coming. :)

    I've been staring intently at the driver pics on the site for a while now and have decided to change my mind - it does look like the Peerless XLS12! This is going to be one very impressive toy. :)

    Jeez, there has been talk of a more powerful sub from BK for a while now, but to be honest I was doubting it'd ever arrive. This looks pretty awesome.

    Hi eviljohn 2
    I too have been looking at the driver. It does not look like my XLS12 as the basket is a different shape and the front cone is slightly different, but my driver is few years old and the design may have changed.
    If it is a Peerless unit then I will buy one.

    I suppose we'll just have to wait and find out. It certainly doesn't look like any of the other driver models on the BK site. :)

    Has anybody heard this beast??? Just saw it linked from this website. Is it not just a SVS PB-10 but with a larger driver? I was set on importing an SVS but this really does have some mouthwatering spec. If its anything like the XLS200 but with bigger output, I'm definately buying it!!!!

    If you're looking for a sub of this spec, i'd say GO FOR IT! I have the XLS200 and am still amazed at the quality and value for money. Even though i've not heard this new BEAST, looking at the spec i'd say it's probably worth a hell of a lot more. A similar thing from the likes of SVS would be far more expensive. At £399 it seems an excellent bargain :smashin:

    Just over twice the weight of the XLS200. I'm desperate to find out some more details on the driver that's used in the unit, hopefully they havn't had to cut any corners in that respect as they don't seem to have done anywhere else. :)

    It would definatly be interesting to run it against the pb10. Shame I dont have the moeny to get one at the moment. It might be worth going against the smaller 12" driver subs from SVS.

    The BK Monolith size and spec seems to have been designed as a very close match to the SVS Pb10(almost to close).We shall obviously need to wait to see a comparitive reviews to see how it stacks up against the SVS and other similar or even higher priced products.

    For now I think BK should at least be aplauded for coming out with what appears to be a bargain sub (depending on a subjective review) available in a range of finishes (all at the same price) from a UK source, so we don't have to worry about international shipping etc(even allowing for SVS's superb service).

    I for one hope that we have a home based source that can cut it against the likes of our American cousins products.The monolith is almost identical in price & spec compared to the Pb10.We shall just have to wait till someone takes the plunge and orders one then I am sure Ian or someone with a Pb 10 will be only to pleased to do a head to head evaluation.

    yes, hopefully someone will soon pluck up the courage to go ahead and buy the new BK, instead of waiting for each other to take the plunge first.

    why has it been 'tidied'?

    Is this because the quarrelsome messages of GFS AV and IanJ were mutually withdrawn or is this to protect moderator IanJ's image?

    Or just because the disagreement didn't make helpful reading?

    just curious :rolleyes:

    Who cares?! It was besides the point, I'm sure they could sort out any personal problems elsewhere.
    I completely agree with you kbfern. Its about time we were treated to some bargains too. I'm not saying that Brit offerings aren't worth their price as they probably do cost a lot to build, but some are definately overpriced considering what our American cousins can get for their dollars. Blame the strong pound and labour costs here I suppose.
    But will somebody listen to that sub!!!!

    The specs certainly seem to make the mouth water. The £400 bracket looks like to be hotting up a great deal, not only is there the PB10, but now possibly this contender from BK as well as the Sony SAWX900.

    I might call to see if I can visit BK and see if they will give me a demo of it.

    The Monolith does not use a Peerless speaker as they would not achieve the spec that BK required. The amplifier BSBPV300 used in the Monolith will be made available separately which I will get to power my Peerless XLS 12" unit if the output into 8 ohms is sufficient. Like most others I am looking forward to a comparison with the XLS200.

    Sonic65, can I ask where you got that information? Presumably from BK themselves.

    Hopefully Tom from BK might be able to chime in and reveal the answer to some of the secrets within the Monolith. :)

    Right, Just had a chat with BK, and they are bringing the Monoloth to me tomorrow for a review :).

    Works out very well as we can compare the XLS200 and the PC Ultra all in the same room :). Will be an epic battle methinks :) :D
