As the title says, how much difference is there between these three speakers?
I currently have a Velodyne SPL-1200 Ultra an Onkyo TX-SR705 and a fairly small living room.
Would I be missing much by using the Bronze 2 instead of the more expensive Silver RS6 and much more expensive Silver 100?

How much they cost (RS6)? They are brighter sounding than Silver RX which came after with smoother and warmer sound, then came Silver 5G which again was little step up and now the newest is Silver 6G which offers again some refinements in certain areas.

AVO still has the 5G Silver 6 which are very compact sized. If you can keep them out of boundaries, then it shouldn´t be problem but with such a quality subwoofer do you really need towers or is it more about the looks?

You can get the new Silver 100 and S50 cheaper, the S100 model is very special. I just read comparison between those two from trusted source. AVF has reviewed it aswell. S100 would be my pick if you can give some space for them as they`re not small.

This one will depend upon how you are listening to them with your amp.

If you are listening with the amp set to sub/sat, then the two bookshelf speakers will certainly give you a different experience. The Bronze 2 speakers when compared to the Silver 100 do mask information due to the differences in components, crossover and cabinet meaning the Silver 100 would certainly be the better of the two.

When comparing the RS6's to the Silver 100. The RS6's will produce more depth and a very good balance whereas if you use the Silver 100's (not using sub/sat mode) with the Velodyne SPL-1200 Ultra's "Speaker Level Input" and take the time to balances the combination, then the 100's will give you more than the RS6's.

On another front, if you do the same again with the RS6's and the Velodyne SPL-1200 Ultra, this will mean you do not rely on the Velodyne as much and will bring the two speakers much closer, but thank's to the improvements over the years, the 100's will still have enough to edge ahead.

If however, you do not wish to use the Velodyne SPL-1200 Ultra in this fashion then the RS6 is the winner in the right room

Thanks for the replies.
It seems like general consensus is that the Silver 100's are definitely the best speaker, but how much better would they be?
I can get the Silver 100 speakers for about £450, the Silver RS6 for £260 and the Bronze 2 for £160.

The Silver 100's are a lot more expensive, so is the expense worth it? Will I notice the difference?
Also, I'll be running the sub via LFE from the amp and I'll try out the different listening modes on the receiver as to weather the sub is on for music playback, but probably it will always be in a 2.1 setup for music and 7.1 for movies.

I think if you google you will find some comments about RS serie being brighter cause i remember clearly that the RS serie was recommended to partner with some warmer amps. They also started to use the RST technology in drivers on RX Silver which is still today on Silver/Apex series. I would certainly listen them before buying.

If one listens lot of music, i would still jump to Silver serie cause what Shane said is true, i have heard the difference myself aswell between 5G S and BX Bronzes, 2ch music comparison. I would have loved to test the full surround setups, but dealers rarely do this.

160£ vs. 450£ is big jump between B2 and S100, but there is very easy way to find out are they worth the extra cost. Book a demo time to your local MA dealer as they should stock both in every shop. Bring your own music with you and you will hear the difference. This won`t cost anything, but will give you some answers for sure! There will be no second guessing afterwards. Please do this!

280£ vs. 649£ RRP (B2 / S100)
- Higher spec RST technology mid/bass drivers on Silvers, 8" vs. 6,5"
- 35kHz vs. 30kHz C-CAM tweeters, extend higher with Silvers.
- 20mm vs. 18mm cabinet with real wood veneer on Silvers, vinyl wrap on Bronzes
- Audio crossover components & design, internal cabling should be better on Silvers

Detail, soundstage, bass quality, dynamics/scale/depth will be on different level with S100s. Of course the doubling of price will bring differences! Notice S100 needs similar space as floorstanders to sound best. MA recommends 20-36cm from the rear wall, which is same for floorstanding S200 model example.

Bronzes aren´t slouch especially when one has good amp/receiver, for AV use they are one of the best in class. One dealer used to say that to get really singing one needs receiver in the 1k£ class. With Silvers members have reported noticeable changes when driven with powerfull poweramps / expensive amps. So there is lot of potential to make it even better in future.

Ed Selley mentioned on B2 5.1 review (tested with Yamaha flagship 2k£ receiver);

Monitor Audio has managed to create a set of speakers that delivers a convincing cinematic performance that is a cut above the competition at the price. If you want speakers to deliver real excitement and a sense of the action on screen and your budget is £1,200-1,500, this is the one. As a bonus, you will also be buying some of the best built, most attractive and musically satisfying speakers at the price point.

There is also RX1 at 200£/pair which are step up from B2s.

Silver 50 - 330£ , smaller but with subwoofer would be nice! Silver 100 has still been found as better speakers in few places where comparisons have been done.

PS. New Bronze serie will come out ~ early next year! Silver serie just came out, if this matters...

Thanks again for the advice.
Unfortunately my local monitor audio dealer wouldn't even play any of the speakers in the shop and insisted that I buy them and test them at home, then I could swap them if I didn't like them... It seems snobbery is a massive problem still in the hifi scene!

The place that had the silver 100s for sale didn't have the bronze range so I couldn't compare.

Anyway, I managed to get the Bronze 2's for £135 delivered so that seemed like a damn good deal!

Shame to hear that, terrible service! While home demo is the ideal solution, dealers should allow for model comparison at store if asked assuming they have products in stock.

Well you surely got a superb deal for that price! Get a pair of sturdy stands, leave approx 30cm space behind the B2s and wall as i have seen two review mentioning this to hear them at their best! Report back how you get on with them..

Do you mind sharing where you got the bronze 2 from? Were they new second hand?
