This does does look like a step forward in class of speaker an 8" driver, not very convincing looks but I looking forward to having a listen

The MA Silver range has, imo, been a rock solid performer for many years - an easy go-to range within its price bracket. I appreciate that aesthetics are secondary to performance but to many still an important factor and I don't know who on earth thought that tweeter cover is in any way attractive. It's fugly, cheap looking and ruins the otherwise classy exterior.

Nice review Ed, thanks. So the bronze, silver and platinum MA ranges have all had some speakers reviewed, with the bronze and silver (previous range) multi-channel packages also reviewed. Can we except a review for the MA Golds, either individual or multi-channel? Thanks

Monitor audio seems to be on a roll. Good for them. The new gold series would be very interesting indeed.

i was going to purchase these, but in the end I've gone for the XTZ spirit 8 which can work in a more flexible way. i will be getting them in the next few weeks fingers crossed!

Interesting review, especially with a bass driver at that size. However, I have not been impressed with the Monitor Audio stand mounters I have tried.
Most recently I bought MA silver 1 at a discounted run out price and I found their sound overly attention grabbing in the upper-mid range and treble. They're definitely very revealing and they have good imaging but to my ears they lack an ability to really engage the listener with the whole sound picture . They might, however, be better suited to more high end source and amplification than I am using with them, Marantz m-cr603.
Anyway, I'm not dissing these as I haven't heard them but I think the MA sound is maybe not for me (up to the silver range anyway). Then again I absolutely love the Elac debut b5 which have received a pretty lukewarm reception in the UK and not really selling. Horses for courses I suppose.

How was the Silver 100 tested?
They were tested with crap music

Always baffles me the reviewers choice of music, can't you do more popular music from great bands Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors
