I am a bit of confused to which option is best.

I need to buy some front speakers to go with my MA RSLCR Centre speaker,
The room size 3m front to back and 5.5m left to right.

I was thinking of going for the RS1's with power handling of 80W (RMS)
But they will be running off my Yamaha 2600 which rated at 130W
because the amp is more powerful than the speakers, will they get damaged.

Would they be OK, or am I better off getting the RS6's, which then could be too big for my room?

Please help

RS1 will be fine, and will match your amp better then a big floorstander.

And the amp being rated higher then the speakers means nothing.

My denon 3805 blew a few weeks just running the my fronts I put it VERY LOUD and my monitor audio S1's are fine.

Thanks phillfyspoon

RS1's it is then

The RS1's are very nice. By the time you turned the volume up to the point the speakers are getting 80w, you would probably have to be deaf to turn them up any higher.

Of course, if you have youngsters running round the house, and the Yamaha is in an accessible place for wandering fingers, then be sure to check the volume isn't at max before switching on each time..

Someone on the forums had a smiliar issue when their cousins/nephews came round. In that case the reciever and speakers were closely matched and the only result was many people jumped and lots of crying children.

Thanks for all your advice.

My new RS1's will arrive on Tuesday

Am I right in thinking the yamaha is on the bright side? If so get some good copper speaker wire, because monitor audio tend to have a tad harsh treble.

Perhaps bright and I do agree copper cabling etc if that's the case.

You must try the rs6's, i demoed many speakers at that price and considerably more, the W's are pretty impressive, you will gain massively with your stereo playback and they pack a punch. They are a bright speaker with nice tight base, could be a problem if you amp is on the bright side as well, you need to demo them deff

Thanks Guys

Could you reccomend a Good Copper Cable for my RS1's and Yamaha 2600.

Glad you mentioned this as I was about to buy some Chord Silver Carnival

Something like the Van Den Hul from maplins is popular. Very cheap too and good quality by all accounts.

Should certainly do the job well. btw, I've not used this cabling myself, just seen it recommended on the forums quite a bit.

Another recent proud owner of a pair of RS1...

A first Rosenut pair  soon traded by a good looking pair in Clear Cherry... :)
