I am currently doing a home listening test with the Monitor Audio GR20's. Last weekend I compared them with the B&W 704's and Spendor S6E's. Whilst I am 90% decided to go with the GR20's I am mindful that they have been around for about 4 years now.

    Should this be a concern?

Does anybody out there have any inside information as to possible replacements or changes to the current model?

It's obviously not a concern performance wise, as your ears discovered.

Speaker technology and design hasn't advanced in the last four years...some would say not even in the last twenty years....and even if a new version is being planned, the old models at 2nd hand/ex-demo prices are almost always the better buys...

I've not heard anything about MA releasing a replacement for these speakers, and we usually get kept up to date with these things as we sell a lot of MA.

I run GR20's in my system at home, and can safely say that unless the pair you're using are well run in, they will only get better. If you like the sound, then buy them, you won't be disappointed, even long term.

    Thanks for the useful comments.

The pair have only had about 10 hours use and sound VERY good already!

I can feel a final decision coming on!

If you have the opportunity bi-wire them, it makes an enormous difference to these speakers! They really come alive.

I heard them single wired and bi-wired through an Arcam AVR300 at the dealers and TBH single wired the speakers were not worth the asking price.

Since then I have upgraded the amplification and am really well chuffed with the speakers.

    Enjoy. [smile]

Icarus, I notice that you've got two 3.2 power amps, did you mean bi-wire or bi-amp?

    I/m getting older and sillier - I meant bi-amped.

    Apologies to one and all.
