    Hi Guys,

I am in a position to purchase a pair of Monitor Audio ct265 idc. Is there any other speakers that compare well to these or better for a similar price? Will be using for Atmos during movies and also for music. Thank you.

The CT-265 is a great all round speaker for surround and Atmos duties that in all honesty isnt especially beatable at the price point. The FX version is probably a little better for normal surround use, while the standard version is the one I would use for Atmos. If you want an upgraded version then the CT265-IDC is the obvious step up. We have all models in stock and ready for next working day delivery :smashin:

I've been told by a store that the new version of the idc will be released soon.

There is a new version on the horizon, but I would expect it to be a little more expensive than the current models.

Do you know the differences between the current version and the one coming out?

There are three CT265-IDCs on ebay for £330 + delivery. The seller might split and do you a good price for a pair, always worth asking!

Not yet but we generally dont get the information much quicker than when it becomes publicly available anyway. I suspect its a few months away yet.

Thanks mate. Always kind of suspicious of ebay sellers especially when the price is so good. Can these things be faked?

I've been advised the new versions to these will be released in 2 weeks and have been offered those for £365 for a pair.

Only question is whether i wait for the new ones or see if the ebay seller will sell me two. I would purchase all 3 and try and find a 4th but don't think my room is big enough..

If I have two id place them at positions A1 and A2. Do you think 4 would actually fit in the space I have?

The sp1-sp5 are mission m-cube speakers which I'll be using till I can get something better... and ive been advised against having a complete ceiling speaker setup.

The only difference in the newer versions is that the speaker surround shall be black, as reportedly they had a few people say that they could see the white surround through the grille with the scrim material removed.

The new pricing will be more than the current ct265idc, and I think the new name is C265idc.

The manufacturing batch amount is reducing, and they will become harder to source as the stock levels reduce for the newer version coming out.

EDIT Monitor audio UK have no stock left of the CT265IDC

I am looking for some myself for Dolby Atmos, trying to work out if it's worth waiting a few weeks for the new version to come out too, as that should drop the older version.
Either way - £365 for a pair? could you PM me where you can get them at that price.
Can't find them cheaper than £215 each for the current version.

    thanks

Monitor audio have the new C265idc in stock already. They should be with dealers this week.

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up getting the ct280 idc instead.

Whereabouts is the best place to put atmos speakers? How far infront of the seating should they be?

Silly question - but should the scrim material be removed from the grille?
