Hi everyone, I'm in the process of upgrading my speakers I now currently have 2 apex a10s front left and right and an apex a40, centre. I would have liked to have 3 a40s for the front, but I'm short on space by 1cm to mount the a40s vertically.

Anyone have any idea whether it would be a good idea to run a40s as surrounds?

    I'm thinking a10 front l/r, a40 centre and a40 surround l/r for 5.1

    Or a10 front l/r, a40 centre, a10 surround l/r a40 rear surround for 6.1

    Or a10 front l/r, a40 centre, a10 surround l/r a40 rear surround l/r for 7.1

Ultimately due to lack of space and the missus disapproval, if I run 7.1 or 6.1, I will have to have the speakers on the floor behind the couch. My couch is backed up against the rear wall, but can be brought forward slightly.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be very much appreciated.

A40's on the surround channels would be overkill IMO. I'd stick with A10's at the back and spend the money saved else where.
Of coarse, if money is not a factor, knock yourself out!
