    Hi,

    I have been hunting for a new 40/42 HDTV over the last week and I think I've narrowed it down.

    Does anyone have any comments on the following which will help me finally decide?

    All these are 1910 X 1080 Sets;
    SONY KDL-40W2000U (Looks amazing but highest priced) - £1450
    TOSHIBA 42WLT66 (Looks good and great value) - £1050
    SHARP LC42XD1E (Hmmmm)

    These are lower res ones that seem OK;
    SONY KDL-40U2000U (Saw it in Macro for £799)
    SONY KDL-40S2010 (Very reasonable price and being sold with free DVD Recorder) - £1100

    Any comments on the above or even other suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I take the plunge.

    Cheers, Tim

    welcome tim

    ok first things first. what you gonna use it for? you got a 360? linked to your pc? sky HD? freeview? etc etc.

    are you looking for overall all round performance, including sound quality? or do you have a sound system to hook it to? is price an issue?

    give us as much info as you can

    thanks

    RD

    HI RD,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    I have an Xbox360, I will also be getting Sky HD very shortly and we watch a lot of DVD's although I haven't begun to look at changing my player and it is a fairly old crappy Philips thing. I will change my DVD if necessary to get the most out of the set.

    Cheers.

    i just bought a Sony KDL 40w2000 and it is primarily used for Xbox 360 and dvd play back (and some tv). It is Fab, but i have discovered that apparently sony tv's are prone to backlight bleeding on some sets - mine is one :mad:

    however, the retailer recognise this fault and are going to replace it, but be warned it apparently is an issuse. However, it stilll remains in most peoples opinion (mine included) the best set on the market for that price - the v best apparently being the X series Sony kdl range.

    Hope this helps:thumbsup:

    I'd go for the LC-42XD1E.

    Best bang for buck. best SD picture, and the best blacks.

    Thanks dude, I read your post (or a similar problem that someone else is having) earlier and was slightly concerned, I found myself swaying towards the Toshiba, especially as it is a good £400 cheaper and has the same full HD Res.

    I must admit, I've never been a Sharp fan, but the price of this is brill and with the full HD Resolution it's a bargain. I can't find a review to save my life though. Do you have this set??
