    Hi all,
I have a High Definition Plasma, which is fed by a Marantz DV 4300 DVD Player.
When I play a suitable disc, the Marantz outputs progressive 576P, which over component is very good indeed, very smooth too.

If I play a dodgy (copy disc) it displays in 480p, quite a good picture.

I have been reading good reports of the Momotsu player.
    Q.'s

    1. would it be worth getting the momitsu
    2. my plasma does not have a DVI input
    3. I do not have an HTPC
    4. would I see a worthwhile improvement using 720P

    Thank you for any replies

The momitsu is only really of use if you've got a DVI input. IIRC it's component outputs are pants. I had one for a while, and it's DVI out isn't too shabby - de-interlacing wasn't the best in the world, but the rest of the picture was pretty good, especially considering the money. But I'm sure that the consensus at the time was that the component outputs are just a waste of time.

    HTH.

    Cheers, Carl.

    Hi,

Don't forget that the Momitsu will also output an analogue RGB signal (much better than component) from the DVI-I output. You could then output a custom resolution to match your plasma's native resolution via the VGA input. Hope this helps.

    Thanks Steve,

That gives me food for thought. I currently run RGB out from my HD STB
and the P.Q. is very good.
Do you know if the RGB out is RGBHV format, as that is the requirement for my HD Plasma.

    Thanks again Steve.

    cheers
