Morning all, A couple of weeks ago, a work colleague of mine was mugged at a train station at 1am in the morning. We had all been out on a works do. It was raining, she got the wrong train and got off at the wrong station. She got her phone out to try and call a taxi. A young kid (15 or so) came up to her on his push bike and at first he seemed sympathetic until he pushed her to the ground and stole her phone. As he rode of on his bike he shouted and taunted her. The cheeky little brat even shouted sexual abuse and hurled insults at her. Thankfully, my colleague was unharmed but she has not been out socially since this happened. The police have been notified but all she has to show for the event is a crime reference number Anyway, the phone was a Galaxy S3 and was only 3 months old. It was a contract phone with another 21 months left on the contract. Her phone company are very unsympathetic and have refused to help her out with a new phone or give any lenience on her contract. My colleague is now paying £30+ a month for a phone she no longer has and has been told that a new phone will cost over £300 She has contacted her home insurance company but although the phone is covered at home for accidentally loss or damage (or burglary) it is not covered in any way away from the house. So, the question is, does any kind person out there happen to have a half decent handset gathering dust that they could kindly donate. We have found an old nokia handset which is little more than just a phone (no email etc). Has anyone had an upgrade recently and has no use for their old handset. We are not looking for anything valuable, just a phone with the usual "smart phone" things like email and app store. This is a genuine appeal and I hope it does not contravene any rules on the forum - clearly if it does then I will immediately close the thread. I would hope that my history (and trading history) on the forums would be proof enough that this is a genuine request for help. Many thanks Matt Location: Reading I have read the trading rules and agree to abide by them at all times until the transaction is concluded to the satisfaction of all parties involved : Yes. -------------------------------------------------- This message is automatically inserted in all classifieds forum threads. Please be advised, all buyers and sellers should satisfy themselves that the other party is genuine by providing the following via PM to each other after negotiations are complete and prior to dispatching goods and making payment: 1) Landline telephone number. Make a call to check out the area code and number are correct too! 2) Name and address including postcode 3) Valid e-mail address (no disposable addresses such as @gmail or @yahoo for example). DO NOT proceed with a deal until you are completely satisfied with all details being correct. It's in your best interest to check out these details yourself. Also we advise that the vendor post images of the items for sale. This helps your sale by showing the condition of the goods prior to dispatch.
