Guys

I am planning on using the PS3 media server to transcode MKV files on the fly.

What kind of computer set up am I going to need to make sure this is stutter free wirelessly?

Thanks

OK so you're going to have to be wired and have a fairly meaty PC with a fast CPU (the more the better) and a lot of RAM to be sure, as for exact stats, well i wouldn't be buying a PC just for this purpose (if that's what you're suggesting you might do), there are far better and cheaper alternatives out there which wouldn't require the use of a PS3 or any transcoding.

You may be better off just transcoding first with mkv2vob, to one of the formats, then streaming using PS3 Media Server, if you don't think your PC is up to it...

Or if your PC is really really poor and you don't think it would be able to manage that, shell out £80 for a WD TV player, then you don't need to do anything with the files..
