    Hi All,

I am in a very lucky position of looking to buy some speakers for a 7.1 or 7.2 setup.

They will be powered by an Arcam AVR 550.

It is a big room to fill, 6x7m with the ceiling at 2.8m.

They will be used for mainly watching movies and dancing to music.

I really want an on wall solution, apart from the sub(s) as we have little munchkins running around, and they love dancing! (I've already put a mirror ball on the ceiling!)

I have an acoustic screen, so thats ok, but the sides and rears will need to be mounted relatively high, probably at about 2m.

    My budget is £5-6k.

I was considering MK (MP150), but I think they are a little out of my budget, so then started looking at the XTZ cinema range. The trouble is to get to listen to any of these is at least a 6 hour round trip!
(Why do these manufacturers so limit the stockist??)

Dali Opticon (on wall) were another option, or Goldenear.

Also are bi-poles/tri poles the way to go at the sides or not?

I'd be really grateful for any advice.

    Many thanks,

    Chris

Oh, sugar. If you post on the xtz thread, maybe ask if there are any owners down your way?

Hmm, yeah, @Jag @ Epic Home Cinema is quite far from Dorset, but if you do decide to buy them, it'd certainly be worth the trip! :)

Maybe make a day trip out of it or something?

Can't remember who but I was fairly sure there's someone with an XTZ setup out west...

As for your other question, I use S5s (the tripole ones) at the sides and it works incredibly well

Hi Chris, appreciate I'm not down the road but as stated, you'd be welcome to pop over and perhaps make a day of it. Windsor is a few minutes away and there are some great places for lunch. You can even take away the Cinema series when you visit thereby saving on delivery costs. Listening to the system optimally set up in 2 rooms plus discussing your system in person has some value to it too.

Out west you have Allan - forum member Uptheowls who owns the Cinema series. Worth getting in touch. Alternatively, as suggested above, do feel free to drive down for the day.

Thanks Jag, I'll drop you an e-mail.

Any one any comments to make about MK, Dali, Goldenear? Any comparisons?

    Thanks.

Imo the XTZ cinema series would be my choice, you can't really go wrong with them.

They have a fabulous reputation on here for both movie and music performance.

You will get excellent advice and service from [email protected] too.

Newbury is on the way to Slough, 2 birds, 1 stone? :)
Probably beneficial if you heard both speakers on the same day too
