I'm after a speaker setup for my office. I'm midway into negotiations to purchase a set of Tannoy R3's which will do fine as stereo fronts. Now, I want the centre and surrounds to be as unobtrusive as possible.

If I got Gallo balls for these 3 speakers, would it work? My main thing is stereo music so that will be fine but what when I put on a SACD or play my Xbox in 5.1? Do these ball absolutely need a sub or can they stand up as centre and surrounds?

Opinions/ experiences please? Also, how much am I likely to pay for 3 secondhand gallos?

Yes they do need a sub as they won't produce much below 100Hz

Additionally there will be a huge tonal mismatch between the Gallo centre and Tannoy floorstanders but it depends on how much this would worry you.

You would never be able to play the Dark Side of The Moon SACD without grimacing
