Hi, i have in the past used my Kef 3005 setup and think its great, amazing sound that filled my previous lounge 13ft square, this room is bigger now at 18x13 feet so yet to see.... i have however just aquired some Kef iq5's, iq1's and an Iq6c plus the PSW2500 sub.

I have not set this up yet as im still decorating and my new Alpason cabinet arrives today :) but could i / should i mix any of these to create a better system? ie is the HTb2 sub better? can i add in some of the eggs to create 7.1 etc... or would you just stick to 5.1 and match them all together? could i run both subs!?

any thoughts appriciated :)

If you're a purist then you need to match all speaks so they are tonally balanced. :lesson:

If you've not a purist and got 7.1 capabilities I would use whatever speakers you have to achieve it. As long as all speakers are rated roughly the same power handling you shouldn't have any problems. Just don't try to match a 25watt speaker to a 150watt speaker and expect the same volume/db level. :p

Its basically down to expectation v realization. How do you want you system to sound? v How much can you afford spend to achieve it? If the eggs aren't up to the iq's then replace them when you can afford to.

My Kefs are all mixed, LS-50's on the front, Q800ds on the side and soon R100 on the rear. Ideally i should go for LS-50's all round but I like to buy from the classifieds and you can only buy whats on offer.

I listened to the Gravity Atmos version in a KEF demo room which used in walls for the fronts, Qs for the rears, and in-ceiling. Could not tell that they were different models (though I was busy being in awe of the Atmos track and the soundfield created). If you are changing the sub, I would go with another brand.

I already have both sets of speakers / subs so its weather to combine the two sets or if one sub is better than the other etc, not looking at spending any more at the minute as I'm doing the whole house up! I'm currently trying to find all my cables as everything is still boxed up from the move.

I will try the eggs as 7.1 and see what it sounds like, I should have put wiring in ready before I plastered the room! I am considering converting the garage though to a cinema room :)
