Modern home theatre receivers have an LFE (low frequency effects) channel that provides only low frequency signals for an active subwoofer.
However your amplifiers does not have a low level subwoofer output. Therefore the only means of output is from the main left and right speaker channels. However to do this your subwoofer must feature a "High Level" input which I don't think the mission does but you will need to confirm. Try and check the specs to see if it has a 'High Level Input. If is does simply connect the subwoofer using normal speaker cables outputting from the second set of speaker outputs on your amplifier to the "High level" inputs on the sub such as this. .

Some subs high level input is through a neutrik speakon connection such as the attached thumbnal so you need a special lead. See this thread for more info. If you need more info you will get a lot more responses in the subwoofers thread :)

If your budget can stretch a little further, have a look at the Mordaunt Short MS309 which is available at £220 (or maybe even a bit less now). This was the winner of a group test by What Hifi here and can be connected to your stereo amp by attaching it to the speaker terminals.

It should be leagues ahead of the Mission subwoofer

If the Sony amp has pre-outs (not tape outputs) then a low-level signal could be used and would probably be the preferable method.
