I want to place my M7DS surround speakers on the side walls. Should they be behind the listening position, or with their centres horizontally in-line with the listening position, or doesn't it matter if they are even a few inches forward? What's the recomened distance from the rear wall (to prevent booming)? I'm just trying to find the best way owing to my room restrictions.

    Thanks.

    Dr.Rock.

Ideally L & R surround speakers should be in line with the listener or slightly behind, but if they are slightly forward I don't think you will notice the difference to much especially with the bipolar type M7DS speaker.

You will notice any possible loss of “optimum” surround effect even less if you are also using back surround speakers as well.

    Cool-hand,

You are correct, but I have my M7DS’s slap bang up against the underside of the ceiling cove having been unable to make any clear distinction between both positions when installing.

The up against the ceiling also helps the unusual shape of the M7DS blend in a bit more with my room.

    Regards,

    Chris.
