I am about to purchase the Sony STRDB1070 or 1080.

To go with it i have been looking for some nice well priced speakers - kef's took my fancy but i can't afford them!

I was thinking about some Mission M73's for the front - anygood??

For the rears i was looking @ Mission M72 or 71 but dont know what the difference is betwrrn them or if they would be suited.

Also what shall i get for a centre speaker??

Thanks for the help guys - as you may guess i am new to 'decent' hifi :)

I am happy with my Mission M73 floorstanders, M7c2 center, M7ds rears.

I would recommend M7c2 as center it is much much better than the M7c1.

I would also reccomend getting M72's put them on stands and get a subwoofer for filling in the bass.

so the setup is gonna be:

    M73 front
    M72 Rear on stands
    M7C2 centre
    and a sub

    I haven't decided on the 1070 or 1080 yet but think i will get the DVNPS705 (multiregion) as a DVD/CD/SACD player :)

    Currently I'm using M74's, M7C1, 70's and a 70ase sub.

If you are getting the M73's I'd aim for an M7C2 center as it should be noticable better than the M7C1, although its a lot deeper and might be tricker to mount. I'd like an M7C2 but realistically can't fit it on top of my TV. The M7C1 doesn't sound out of place and fits on the TV better.

The M72's are bigger and can go lower than the M71's. I'd go for whichever you can afford. Worth bearing in mind is that the M70's can be wall-mounted (as my 70's are) if you don't want to fork out for stands. I don't know if this is the case for the 71's or 72's.

The M71's and 72's are very similar in price so i shall decide upon ordering but prob go for the 72's - i would consider the 70's but i want beech all round and dont think they come in it (although i may be very wrong!)

Those Sony amps are on the brighter side of neutral & the Mission M73's are bright speakers too. You may end up with a very "excitable" sound with more top-end than you want. Then again, that may be just what you are after. If you are familiar with a warmer sound, then perhaps those Kefs (Coda 90's?) or another warmer speaker setup may be more suitable? :)

At the moment I'm using the m73's as fronts, with three m72's as centre and rears. The centres in the m70 range are underpowered, and using an m72 as the centre is a massive improvement. You just need to find someone who will sell you odd numbers of speakers. Right now I'm borrowing one from a friend, who's soon to want it back.
