Great final review of this Series, Cas, thank you!
Just one bit threw me:-
And it's great news, because, after Rogue Nation, everybody wanted me.
Am I just being too thick Today & not reading this right, or should I congratulate you that you were first choice to Direct (But couldn't because of "prior commitments" etc.)

Thanks Cas, great review and one I fully agree with.

Best MI film to date, to top it off, the opening scene was filmed around the corner from me!! Tom Cruise actually stayed in sunny Peterborough for a few days!! :D

On the subject of that opening scene - i cant quite remember where i heard/read it but Tom Cruise had asked the pilot "can you make it so im taken off my feet?" (or however he worded it)... apparently he let out a small smile and said "that wont be a problem"... :D

...in fact i think it might have been Tom Cruise himself telling that story on Graham Norton around the release.

My favourite of the MI films so far as well.

Opening scenes filmed at RAF Wittering?

I am in no doubt that it will beat the streaming, but HDTVtest did a comparison a while back for a few movies and the results from AppleTV were very very good.
The difference was only obvious upclose and personal and I can live with the sound.
I am asking because I only own the Apple4K and not an UHD player and to be honest if the difference is again minimal I will happily forget about the UHD for a while because of the prices and the space saving.
I love my bluray steelboks but now that uhd is out they look kinda obsolete on my shelf.....

Where Tom told the story why the last film was late, after he broke his leg/foot in the roof jump. Ouch.

Especially when it’s £6.99 for the 4K on iTunes.

Dolby Atmos to follow.

I’d like to see The Abyss in 4K. It’s just turned up in HD on Netflix. Or is it an upscale?

This set will be drop to £40 or sub £30 in few months like Transformers.

It's £25 now on Itunes mate, that's why I said I was interested in comparisons, If difference is big I would pay for a player and discs myself also, doesn't matter the price as I like quality also.

Don't know whether it's because my calibrated EF950 is a few years old but imo this was by far the worst looking disc of the set.
Image looked really blurry with loads of elevated blacks.
Really enjoyed the film though.

Watched this again last night, third time....once in Dolby Vision, on my friends set up. Dolby Vision, just fantastic & non Dolby Vision, isn't too far behind.
I love the motorbike chase scenes, it really shows off what HDR / 4K is all about. ( The thing is now, do i buy an LG 55" B7, currently at a great price, the cheapest i've seen, at a certain well known retail store ! )

We have the 55" B7 & the PQ is truly fantastic - and this was to replace a 50" LG top line Plasma, so we were used to a good picture. Personally if it's a great price, I would recommend you buy it

I do have a 55B7 also, very happy with it now, had some sound issues some months back but all ironed out now with software updates.
Has the almost inevitable lines on 5% grey, but you will not see that with any other content, just that test pattern.
I won't recommend it if you game all day because of potential burn in and no, I don't think the q9fn will kiss it better, you just have to search to see that there are issues with all TV's.
For me DV looks better then standard HDR so that's another plus.

I’ve watched the blu-ray Atmos disc soo many times as it was my demo disc for sound.
I’ve noticed they pulled back the LFE and Reverb ettects on the 4K version.
I can understand why as it maybe felt over done on a revisit by the engineers but to be honest it’s what made the audio!
Bit disappointed, will prob keep the original blu-ray version also now
