    I had the same problem.

Eventually I decided for the Kef Egg :D (6.1). They are fantastic!

Apparently the Tannoy FX5.1 offer a very good value for money.

Kef eggs can generally be bought at £699 for MKII version (with then £100 per extra speaker). Though someone has posted elsewhere that www.edge-sv.co.uk are selling at £599 but I don't think they deliver.

Thanks for the suggestion Silent Fly although they're a bit pricey...the budget's £400 tops.

The Canton Movie 10's can be bought for £350...anyone any experiences of these?

I bought the Elac Home Cinema 1 package for £349 in December. I've got to say it took a lot of deliberating but I'm over the moon with them. They are an excellent set of speakers for the money and wifey friendly because they are so small

I see that you are happy with the Elac speakers!

Are they OK for music as well? I intend to listen to quite a few CDs and music DVDs and they must be up to scratch!

By the way, what receiver/amp are you using?

I'm using a Yamaha 630 RDS amp with the Elacs. Music is quite good through them as well, but maybe just lacking a bit of mid range, which is not surprising due to their size.

I've got to say for the money, I'm extremely happy. See if your local dealer can demo them for you if you've got any doubts. I'm sure you won't be disappionted!
