    Hi,

I've just taken delivery of the Mission FS1 speaker pack (very nice they are too!). However, I've found that the cables for the rear speakers are not long enough for me to run around the room and up the walls.

These cables have proprietary connectors at each end and I don't fancy really snipping them and creating my own cable with fear of invalidating the warranty, etc. Although I may have to do this to solve my problem if I can't find another solution.

Does anyone know if there are any 'official' extension cables out there? If not, is it possible to source sockets for these plugs on the ends of the cables?

    Thanks for any help.

    Cheers,
    Taz.

    i e-mailed mission :

"you can purchase extra lengths of cable or you can use your own cable and we have specials adapters which can be used to terminate the cable"

EDIT - forgot to say you can either get it from mission direct or from a mission dealer

    Many thanks for the reply.

    Just e-mailed them myself. :)

Incidentally, did they mention how much these adaptors / extension cables cost?

    Cheers,
    Taz.

    Thanks for that.

Sevenoaks = no luck. They didn't know of any kind of extension cable or longer cable.

They just suggested snipping the cables at either end and soldering a new longer cable in! I did ask if this would void my warranty and they said it shouldn't do as they're only cables! Somehow I'm not convinced.

Anyway, having had no luck there I phoned Mission on that number you gave and spoke to a bloomin' nice chap indeed.

He did say they have 20m cable with the same plugs (although out of stock at present) for £13.19 + P&P + VAT each. For two this was going to be a bit expensive!

However, he said he also had some 'plug adapters', which have the same plug on one end and some connector block at the other. This enables you to use your own cable in between. This must be what they were on about when you spoke with them.

Now, the reason why this chap was so bloomin' nice (apart from the fact he knew his stuff and was very helpful with the information) was that he's just offered to send me 4 of these for nothing!!! In appreciation for buying the FS1 speakers, he says. He's going to pop them in the post for me today.

He mentioned that because these speakers are NXT ones, it doesn't really matter what sort of speaker cable I use, as they don't take much to drive them - as long as they're multi-stranded ones, they should be okay.

Now that's what I call customer service!

I appreciate your help by the way. This has solved my problem!

    Cheers,
    Taz

do you have to keep on turning the power off using the switch at the back or does it power off after a certain period of inactivity?

Hmmm... Never actually though of powering it off. I've never done that on any 'active' speakers. I have a set of 5.1 speakers (sub with a power switch) for my PC and that which I've never switched off.

I do the same with my mission setup. I have to anyway, the sub is tucked away behind the telly! The missus won't let it out. :( Shame really as it looks so nice!

    Cheers,
    Taz.
