Currently have a pair of Mission 780se speakers that I use to listen to vinyl and CD. I do like the speakers quite a lot!! However, someone I know is selling some as new Eltax III's. Will the newer Eltax III sound better than my old Missions? Am I better off keeping the missions?

I listened but only for around 30seconds so didn't really get a proper idea of if they were better or not. What would you have?

I haven't heard either of them.

Can you go and have a listen for longer than 30 seconds ?

You need a good hour with speakers, or any component for that matter, as your ears have to adjust if nothing else. Buy in haste, regret at leisure.:lesson:

No. I’ve bought half a dozen eltax speakers over the year for friends and young people who need cheap music system that looks ok and plays. Mostly because they are usually very cheap and sound ok and I’m used to them.

I assume you’re talking about the Monitor 3, or Liberty 3, though it makes little difference.

But the Eltax, fun as they are, are not really up there with the Missions.

As a background speaker there’s probably not much in it but for real listening then the Missions will have a bit of extra class about them.

Still, if you prefer the appearance of the Eltax then they are enjoyable enough, especially at higher volumes.
