does anyone know of any online retailers that sell the mission 780s?

Also, anyone have any suggestions for a decent stereo amp below £400?

    thanks,

    andy.

Audio T should have some and they do mail order. But if they haven't got any in stock you are probably looking at a 7 week wait. Their website is www.audiot.co.uk

Just realised you were asking about a hi-fi amp too. I have just bought a Denon PMA-355 for my bedroom and I'm using it with Mission M71 speakers (I have an Arcam AVR100 partnered with an Alpha 10 power amp, Arcam DV27 DVD player and Mission 781 speakers in the front room). Bearing in mind I am sed to good quality hi-fi I was really impressed with the Denon, it's excellent, if you've only got a small room you should get a demo, it's £184.99 from www.hi-fibitz.co.uk

or if your room is bigger, the new Arcam amps are good, I think the A75 is in your price range.

Thanks a lot for the info Tracey.

Just another ? though. When you say: "
" do you mean you are a bit of an audiophile or don't really notice a difference?

Apologies if I'm being a bit thick with this question!

    Andy.

p.s. my room is only 4m x 4m so I presume this is small enough for the Denon. Is it simply a stereo amp or has it got pro logic/PLII?

What I mean is that I have heard some very expensive hi-fi and I bought my Arcam stuff becuase I think it is very good and worth the money, without spending an absolute fortune. I can definitely notice the difference between that and the Denon, the Arcam amps are smoother, it's when you crank up the volume that you really notice the difference, and the Denon would probably struggle in a bigger room.

It's all personal taste really, whereas I like the Denon because it is quite forward sounding, I prefer the Arcam if I'm listening to music for a lwhile. It depends on your budget, I just think the 780's would go well with the Denon.

The Denon is a two channel stereo amp only, it has two sets of speaker outputs, a phono input (handy if you have a turntable) and two tape inputs. as well as inputs for CD, Aux and Tuner.

Yet you weren't sure that the foam-bungs with your Missions were indeed foam-bungs for bass-tuning......

No offence - it just seems strange

No offence taken, but I have never seen foam bungs used before, I assumed they were only used on the cheaper speakers, but then I don't confess to being an expert, just know what I like the sound of and what I think is worth paying a bit extra for.

I was looking at the 783s from hyperfi, but after heading the 782s I'm not so sure now. They didn't seem lively enough. Perhaps I need to listen to the missions again and pump up the volume a bit :D
