Just wondering who can tell me how the 754 Freedom 5's compare to the 752's ?. I have had 752's, both the original and freedom versions. Loved them although I felt the freedoms had the edge as they had slightly better bass whereas the originals were very treble dominant (although I do like plenty treble but with good bass too). Anyway, cause i love the Mission sound I really fancy trying a pair of the 754's. I know they are quite rare as they just dont seem to come up on ebay.
Anyone had a pair and can tell me how they would compare to the 752's ?
Anyone got a black pair they would consider selling. Thanks !!

A pair went on ebay the other week. Can't remember what they sold for now cos I was watching a few pairs of speakers, but I remember it was cheap, so they do come up on there.

Blimey swiftpete , I am gutted if i missed that because I search on ebay literally everyday. Currently there have been loads of 753's over the past two weeks and 752's even as we speak, but the 754's which replaced the 753's as the flagship I cant seem to catch. Anyway, thanks for getting back :smashin:. Just need a few honest opinions from anyone who's had these in their set up, particularly as a dedicated pair in a hifi system .

It's a gutwrenching feeling when you miss out on something on ebay! Luckily for you I've deleted it out of my watched items now along with all the other stuff I was watching so I can't gut you even more by showing you the link....:)

Keep on searching though, they're bound to come up again.

Are you sure they were 754's as there is nothing showing up on the completed listings?

The 754Fs are huge compared with the 752s and they have a lot more bass as you might expect. If you like the 75 series sound you should be OK; they have better drivers than the 753s and better bass than the 752s. I think they tend to go for about £450 used, not bad considering they were £1500 new.

Thanks Crombo :), thats exactly what I was hoping for. I really did enjoy my 752's - what a terrific speaker for little money, still being bought on ebay like hot cakes. I found the plus being lovely smooth / warm mid and detailed sound from both versions with the originals being a bit treble dominant and both lacking a bit in the bass department although I found the freedoms were a bit better balanced overall. I'm hoping the 754's will have a similarly good mid and enough sparkle from the treble with good bass to match. I also think they look fantastic. The build and finish of wood is hard to beat. I'll be like a cheshire cat if I manage to pick up a good pair in black :D.

got a pair of 754's they are as rare as hens teeth I still look on ebay and not seen any for a while. They sound really nice to me esp paired with the 752's at the rear and the 75c centre. The oak finish matches my monolith as well :) I have played them side by side with my 752's they look tiny in comparison and the bass response is much better. I would reccomend a pair.

Hi Oz :hiya:Nice set up. 754's will be the missing piece in the jigsaw for me in my dedicated two speaker hi fi set-up. After having both the original and freedom 752's I now have B&W CM7's. An impulsive buy and with hindsight i would have kept my 752's and held on for 754's. After all I love the Mission / 752 sound but just want that bit more bass which i'm sure the 754's will have. Just gonna keep on looking for those black 754's, some will come up as they are big and people do down size these days. So anyone out there with a pair they want to give a good home...........:hiya:

As these 754 things seem to be a bit like rocking horse poo, just to let anyone who cares know, there is a pair on a well known action site at the moment.

There's also some Rosewood 754Fs on sale in the classifieds. At £350 these are a bargain

I am really surprised these are still in the classifieds in the condition they are and for only £350. Must be the fact 754's are big speakers and frighten wives. If they were in the black I want them in to match my system then i'd carry them home on my back. They are in London too which is were I am. Bet ya that if a black pair come up they'll be in Scotland :( just like the perfect black pair i've seen recently twice on popular auction site, pick up only from Belgium

Rosewood pair of 754's just sold on popular auction site for only £315.00 - Recession is biting hard so somebody has just got themself a serious set of speakers.

Good luck with the sale, I think you have overpiced them. They usually go for arround £350. Good speakers, I might even be tempted to replace my 752 rears with them, but it might look a bit too imposing :)

I bought a pair of 754f's here in Holland for 350 euro, i love them. They have quite a presence, in dimension and in size...
Unfortunately the seller did not have the original manual, so i am wondering, does anyone here have the specs? I can not find them anywhere on the net.

    Thx! :)

I just came on here to say I'd found the specs on the net but you've beaten me to it :) I took my missions 754s apart the other day cause I thought the LF units weren't working, not much bass at all. I was going to test them with a battery but unfortunately they were hard wired in I did manage to feel the cones and they seemed to be moving ok so maybe its the fact that I'm comparing it to my monolith and thats why it seems there is not much bass. I've just got a Kef 200c and replaced it my 75c with it. Sonically they are a very good match and have improved movies by a great deal. I would recommend them. Really surprised to find they did a 75dp di polar speaker never seen them before. The only picture I could see was this but its not very clear, has anyone else got any other pictures of these?

On web.archive.org you can browse the old mission.co.uk website: Internet Archive Wayback Machine :)

In the 1996 version you can find the 75DP's:

In this 1999 version of the mission website you can see a cutaway image. Unfortunately the link is dead. Perhaps someone still has that picture?

Reserecting an old thread [emoji3] I have recently acquired a pair of 754s to possibly replace my original 753s. Anyone wish to share any tips on placement? At the moment the 754s are sounding bit bass heavy not sure if it's just because I'm so used to the 753s. First impressions very good a lot smoother bigger sounding than the 753s not sure if it's to smooth though? maybe because I have been listening to the 753s for 20years I have become so used to them, need to do further listening [emoji3]

Resurrecting an old thread again! How did you get on with the 754's in the end? I see you still have 753's in your sig so I'm guessing not so well!
