    Guys, I need help!!

I've reserved 4 mission 70's and the Mission Centre for my new Yammy amp (I have a sub already). Now these bookeshelf Mission 70's are probably a bit on the large side for my rears (or my missus will think so, when she see them!!!!). Now, I'm think of just taking the Missions as the front setup (L&R and C) and going for the Eltax L&R Bi-Polar rears instead of the missions. Now, my question is, would it be a decent match? My guess it it would probably be suffice as they are rears. Would I be better off with the missions all round, performance wise, or go for the more discreet Eltax's? (and save some cash too!)

    Any thoughts?

    Many, many thanks,

    Arkaig/Davie

P.S it's urgent because I'm going up to Richer this afternoon.

If WAF matters, why not consider the Gallo Nuc Micros as rears? - might also give you an upgrade path.

[Just seen prices of ~Mission 700s, and so I guess my suggestion of the Micros is off message. But there may be some small sats available second hand on these and other Forums, given you already have a sub. That said, there are others here more knowledable. ]

You can mix & match front & rear speakers.. just buy good sound speakers..rather than finding matching but lesser sound quality speakers. I have un-matching sides/rears and seem fine. And I have a pretty good system, so I doubt you'll even notice it on a budget system. IMO I would say if you're close to the rears I would consider bipoles instead of monopoles. Bipoles are spread the sound out more, therefore becoming less distracting to you. You don't want to realize the rears are on (ie hearing the rears audibly sticking out, compared to front & centre)

Not sure what the freq. response of Micros are 80-18khz, but at what +/- rating? mated with the poor bass management on Yamaha amps- not a wise choice IMO.

[edit] I was talking about the Gallos +/- spec... not the Eltax.

    Wife Approval Factor

Nathan makes reasonable points. I bought the sub last and therefore had Micro balls in mind. Must confess that I didn't think that the Yammy sub would count out adding smaller boxes/balls/ as rears

I have an existing Awia 50W active sub. Which will do for now. My aim is to find out if the preformance of the missions as rears outweighs the WAF ;) factor. What do you reckon?

RS sell Mission bipoles? You could ask the sale chimps to try flicking between the Mission bipoles and Eltax's.

I have a Yamaha YST- 40W sub as well, I would only use it for a PC setup. The crossover on it is pretty bad, more of a mid-woofer. Still it does rattle my brothers bedroom door (wheras my other one REALLY rattles the door!)
