I have a sony tv with freeview built in. Before this I had a setpal. Through my aerial both received everything bar history, sky sports news, sky news and travel.
I bought a humax at the weekend which picks up all the ones above but doesnt pick up itv,ch 4 and itv2. I dont understand as my setpal runs of a rubbish aerial now and still picks it up.
    Any ideas?

THe Setpal boxes are stronger generally so you would expect them to pick up problem muxes. The problem with the ITV and Ch5 muxes (2 and A I believe) is that they run on a different system than the others. They run the old QAM64 system like Ondigital used to whereas other muxes have moved to QAM16 which provides a much more robust signal. Qam64 does provide more bandwidth though so those muxes decided to stay with it, despite the fact that it casues many problems for many people.

I have a small amount of trouble with the ITV mux with the occasional glitch where the others are fine.

There is little hope that they will revert to QAM16 any time soon so we are stuck with it. Quantity over quality I'm afraid.

Well after phoning humax and some quality cs they emailed me the individual mux channel no.s. I did a manual search and it picked up the missing mux fine. Strange it never found it on automatic as it was actually one of the strongest signals. Now very happy with my purchase altho wife a bit unhappy it's already filling up with nascar, indy racing, baseball etc from the wee hours on ch 5.

Yeah, I was scanning the epg last night and saw all that lovely motorsport on Ch5. Oh for a PVR

I'm very tempted by the Humax but it's only single tuner. I might go for one though as the twin tuner models are not up to much yet. The Humax 9000 looks good.

When the PVR8000T picks up the same channels from two different transmitters, it will number the second transmitter's channels from 800. They are not actually transmitted as 800, 801 etc.
