Doubt that this would be allowed these days, but i always remember the original film poster for the 1976 remake of King Kong'. see here

    In the actual film....

    1. the ape was only big enough to stand one ONE tower
    2. No jets attacked the ape, only helicopters
    3. The end battle takes place at NIGHT

oh well, i suppose the film needed all the artistic license they could think of ;)

    anyone think of any others?

    Hi,

Not sure if this counts, but "Die Hard" was always announced as "40 Storeys Of Terror" (or something very similar) on its quad-poster tagline. Shame, then, that Bruce Willis' character discovers the building only has 37 floors, with the top three still being built! :D

Reign of Fire springs to mind.

Did I see dragons vs. Apaches? or London ablaze? nope

Not exactly misleading through the main image, but the original Blood Simple poster was awful! It had pink neon boarders! I would never in a hundred years associate Blood Simple with pink neon.

(Did an essay on Film Posters last year :))

I bought Reign of Fire based on the art work. Thinking I was going to get an aerial battle of epic proportions, I was rather dissapointed with the film :(

"Dune" the movie featured billboards proclaiming "Starring Sting" .. who appeared for all of 5 minutes at the end of course.

    Since I wasn't a Sting fan it didn't annoy me. ;)

I think it was The Fly that said on the poster...

    'Be afraid, be VERY afraid'.

    But I wasn't !

'Never Ending Story' had a bit of a misleading title.

You'd think George Cloony was the STAR of this film....

HE'S IN IT FOR 5 MINUTES!!!!.....

.....Much to the disappointment to my missus.!! Didn't bother me too much, though;) :)

I was also suprised at how little Clooney was in the actual film - the poster does make out like he's the lead - I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact the he is billed as both Producer and Executive Producer ?

I think the 'Hillarious' and 'Funniest Film of the year' is the most misleading part of that poster.
    It was ****e.
