Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of MiniAmps like Lepai or Pyle?

I'm trying to power some Q Acoustics 2010 from my PC and I don't have much space for a full amp.

Would any of these be sufficient to run these without causing damage?

Thanks in advance.

They will work, I've done something similar with a small car amp and 12V NiMH battery which worked ok.
You'll only get around 5 Watts per channel of usable power though so don't overdrive the amp as it could damage the speakers as well as the amp.

Edit.. I should say that I didn't keep that setup for long as I found a Denon UD-M30 Micro Receiver on ebay for £20, the CD player was not working hence the low price but the radio and amp are great. They come up quite regular and are small so could be worth a look.

Car speakers have a very low impedance, making them easy to drive. Conventional stereo and home theatre speakers need a lot more power to drive them and an amplifier intended for use in a car, powered by a battery isn't suitable to drive such speakers. The low current would cause damage to the speakers due to insufficient wattage.
