    Simple Q:
    I can get a new 20Gb ipod for £187
...or a new mini ipod for £152

is the extra £35 worth it?

I have a powerbook G4 with only 7Gb free left, so if I got the 20Gb would I have problems syncing? (i heard you needed the capacity of the model you've got, free on the computer in order to sync properly).

Buying an extra external hard drive just for my music library will cost an extra £100, which I'm not really that keen on doing.

I intend on only using AAC lossless btw so won't have as many songs on there.

    Thanx

I made the same decision and went for the 20g. Unless smallness is paramount the additional amount of memory is not relative to the additional ammount to pay.

I did think that there is a setting so that the music files can be put on the Ipod only though. Although ideal I am sure it is not necessary to match Gb space.

You answered your own question on how much music you want to put on it. I have a 40Gb iPod and have around 9Gb left after 7400 or so songs, but I could fill that easily. I only wish the 60Gb was available when I bought mine!

I would definatly go for the 20g, I bought a creative MuVo 3 months ago thinking 4g about 1000 song would be fine. I am already looking at the new sony NW-HD3 as my creative is completly full.
Especially if you are going to encode at a high rate you might as well have the extra space given the cost diferential in case you do want to add more music.

i had the same problem as u...i wanted an ipod for ages and spent almost an hour in the apple store tryin to make up my mind. I went for the 20Gb instead as the only real difference is the size. plus if ur student u get 8% off at the apple store so i only paid another £20 for a 20gb

Thanx Guys, I think the opportunity to own 5 times the capacity for a mere £35 more is too hard to resist. Just need to wait for stock now....

I hear that the 4th gen 20gb ipods are prone to crashing. I too do not have a huge hard drive on my pc so once I have put my cd's onto the ipod I delete them from the pc to keep it free.....am i heading for heartache when I lose all my library after hours of putting them on????

Buy a new harddisk for your PC. They are so cheap.
