Do these exist ? Are they worth the extra money ?

Only after I bought my camcorder and tapes could I open the manual and read that they recommend using tapes with Cassette Memory... DOH !!!

They do and are VERY expensive. I got some and they were almost twice the price of regular mini DV tapes. I think the memory allows you name the tape and do fast index searching of the tape. All I've done is name my tapes so far...
Personally, I don't see any quality improvement over other tapes .

The cynic in me wonders if this is just a marketing ploy to sell overpriced tapes????

If you want to give them a try most Sony Centres should stock them.

Funny that, seeing as though it was a Sony manual that suggested I buy them ;)

I think I'll stick to the usual ones, cheers for your help

Yep I thought so too :D

Anyone know if you can get decent wide angle / telephoto lenses which will fit these Sony camcorders at a good price? The Sony branded ones are silly money.

    cheers mark,

Have you bought from them yourself? What's the quality of their lenses like?

The local Sony centre was looking for €300 a piece for 2x wide angle and telephoto lenses!

    Hi,

If you use tapes with Cassette Memory, you can also get words and titles to come up on the TV screen, when you play back your tape.
This only works if you dont use the DV out, IE use the S-video or AVI plug.

    owen,
I have used keene on a few occasions and their service has always been very good. I have however never bought or used any of these lenses.
These lenses are are not made by keene, but by makers such as Sigma & Hama. I have used their lenses in the past on SLR's and have found them to be of good quality.

    HTH,
    Mark.
