Mini dv tape to laptop

I have a few mini dv tapes lying around from when I used to own a camcorder. The camcorder and all accessories were sold off a few years ago.
I would like to transfer the footage from these mini dv tapes to my laptop. Can anyone suggest a way of doing this?

Seems that two ways are possible: Buy a mini DV camcorder in working order and use that together with a firewire card. Or pay a professional to do it for you.

Yep agree and I think these are your only two options unless you know someone that still has a player but I guess you'e thought of that.
