Mind boggling setup question....

Standard Member
I'm thinking about using my laptop as my link between my NAS server and my sound system / TV.

To do this I know I need a 5.1 external sound card of some sort....

I also need some sort of docking device as I dont want cables running everywhere...

Now my question is, can I plug an external sound card (USB) into a doc? I was thinking about using a HP universal USB doc allowing me to simply connect a USB cable to doc the laptop (charging it and providing connection to my sound system and TV).

Obviously the sounds card would then only be connect to the laptop when docked..... is this a work-able solution or am i talking rubbish?
