Assuming your music is DRM free then yes you should be able to no problem.

Up to 20000 tracks, it's free and you don't need a phone to start the process so if you start uploading now it will be there before you get a new phone and might highlight any issues before you spend the cash

I'm assuming to do that I'd need to download Google Play on my mac and set up an account?

You can still use Google Music on your iPhone.

I use an app called App4 G.Music on the Apple app store.

This streams all my music fine.

£22   I couldn't imagine paying that much myself.

I use the same app on my Ipad mini too. Its not flashy, just simple.

Even easier than the app is a web link in Safari when you add the shortcut to your homescreen.

Even has a nice icon to match.

The browser link is very similar to the Google Music player you'll get on Android, only thing you're missing is the option to download them on your phone (offline).

Set up a gmail account, there's an upload tool you will need, then link the tool to your new gmail account and tell it what music to upload and leave it till it's done. You can download the music twice via browser or as much as you like if you have the utility installed

How did you get the matching icon with the home screen shortcut? All I've got is a miniature of the web page, which don't look too good.

Open up the goggle music in your safari browser. It will be black screen with album covers down the left.

Click on the share button, and the shortcut icon should be there.
