The holy grail is quested once more! :suicide:

Anyone recommend anywhere in the Midlands (preferably West) where I might be able to sit down and demo a few projectors?

Mostly looking for DLP XGA/WXGA under £3500 so I can check for Rainbows and a Sony HS20 as a fall back if I'm rainbow cursed (fairly sensitive to low freq light).

    Thanks!

The only places I know of which have projectors ready to demo are Sevenoaks and John Lewis - where I work.
    Both are in West Mids.

The only place I found way back was Sevenoaks in Birmingham City Centre. Give them a call and ask them what they have in.

I chose my HS50 last year after demos of several projectors at Sevenoaks in Wolverhampton.

I called 7oaks in Wolverhampton, they said they dont have a Z2 to demo and that they may only stock DLP's in the future.

this is the 3rd dealer ive found whos moving away from LCD
    could this be a trend?

I would Still like to see a Z2, but time is running out with Xmas coming. and im not going to join the masses and buy on spec

anyone know a dealer with one on demo in this area

It could well be a trend as LCD has prooved a little unreliable, but short lived I think.

With the AE100 saga well documentet on this forum, not exclusively but particularly Sony with dead pixel issues and Sanyo Z1 dust issues, it must really cut into their profits.

It sounds as though the new DLP technology is clear ahead of LCD despite the recent influx of high res LCD products, so its not hard to see what they might be thinking.

However, some suppliers will always be prepared to take the risk so long as LCD remains so cost effective to the consumer. If the consumer votes with his feet, they would cut themselves out of a good slice of the market. Remembering of course that the display device is only one component in a HC setup. They might have to take the hit on LCD simply to sell other components.

    Cheers

It could end up being a "catch 22"

where (In my case) you cant view any LCD's, so your forced to buy DLP(or buy blind, which is not recommended). and because DLP are selling, LCD are not stocked.

From what ive seen(only 3) DLP is the way to go
with the VB and screen door isusses, its a H56 for me
