Rip a couple of CDs every weekend while you have your morning tea, and in no time you will be done.
Of course the
Marantz CD6006 (£250) or the
CD6006 UK Edition (£429) are good reliable players. My only hesitation with the
UK Edition is that it is not clear what you are getting for the extra money, but it would still be a good player -
Marantz CD6006UKSE CD Player UK Edition - Superfi
MARANTZ CD6006 SL CD PLAYER (Opened box) - Superfi
In-Store Clearance (Leeds) - MARANTZ CD6006 BK CD PLAYER (Opened box) - Superfi
The
Yamaha CD-S700 (£499) falls in your price range -
Yamaha CDS700 CD Player - Superfi
I would expect good results from the
Rotel CD14 CD Player (£549) -
Rotel CD Player CD14 -Superfi
The
Pioneer PD50 CD/SACD Player (£429 to £499) obviously has SACD Playback -
Pioneer PD50 CD/SACD Player with DAC - Superfi
Pioneer PD-50-S CD Player
Generally
Onkyo are exceptionally clear amps, I would expect similar results from the CD Players -
Onkyo C-7070 CD Player - £389 -
Onkyo C-7070 Black CD Player w/ DIDRC and Precision Clock Technology - Onkyo - AudioVisual Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists
Onkyo C-7070 Silver CD Player w/ DIDRC and Precision Clock Technology - Onkyo - AudioVisual Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists
Emotiva is a new player in the UK Market, but in the USA, they are considered exceptionally high value -
Emotiva BasX CD Player - £399 -
Emotiva Black BasX CD-100 Precision CD Player/Transport - Emotiva - AudioVisual Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists
Keep in mind I did not search out the best prices, I used links to the first place that I knew had the Players, so it would pay to shop around -
Marantz CD6006SE UK Edition Black CD Player - Marantz - AudioVisual Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists
Marantz CD6006SE UK Edition Silver CD Player - Marantz - AudioVisual Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists
Personally, though over budget, I would lean toward the
ROTEL CD14 at £550, though you may find a better price. Perhaps the
Emotiva would be second, and the
Marantz CD6006 UK Edition is tempting but I'm still not sure what I am getting for that extra money.
Here is a link to the full specs on the
Marantz CD6006 UK Editions, it seems that it is replacing the
standard CD6006 as it is very hard to find actual Standard CD6006 or to find information on them -
Marantz UK | CD6006 - UK Edition
Closer to budget, I would have no hesitation getting the
Emotiva BasX CD-100 Player -
Emotiva - CD-100 CD Player
Emotiva does make one better CD Player which has XLR Balanced Outputs, though the price is a bit above budget -
Emotiva ERC-3 Balanced Reference CD Player - £649 -
Emotiva Black ERC-3 Balanced CD Player/Transport - Emotiva - AudioVisual Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists
Emotiva - ERC-3 Reference CD Player
Again, I did not search for best prices, just provided links for reference.
I would suggest that the safest bet is the
Marantz, and though more money, I would personally favor the
Rotel CD14, and I would happily have a
Emotiva.
Again, it pays to shop around -
