    Hi,

I will need a receiver to power my new set of speakers that i just bought.

    DefTech mythos St supertowers
    Mythos 10 centre
    1 pair of mythos two's
    1 pair mythos gems

I was suggested a pioneer lx-86/7 or similar. I am on a budget so its great if its under or near 500. Please let me know if anybody have anything that might pair well with my system.

    Thanks for the help :)

i have an Onkyo Tx-Nr828 here selling for my brother-in-law, immaculate condition and complete as new, i think he didn't use it as his cinema room was never built, so it remained boxed, it has 3 years transferable richer sounds warranty remaining, think he paid around £900 new.

    £450 delivered

Yeah I've never had a problem with bloated bass at all. With Audyssey XT32 you've got the best AVR EQ solution outside of the £20k processors and possibly Anthem ARC. The only way the bass would be bloated I'd imagine would be poor speakers or not doing the Audyssey setup right. I've attached a picture of how good a job it does on the frequency response with my single subwoofer

There is tone control if you want to change the balance at all or you can turn the subwoofer channel down if you have one.

It comes with everything as new including the setup microphone and two remotes and in the original box. Condition is excellent, a few light marks but nothing significant. I've used it for a year now and it's been awesome. The job it does on the bass in my room is incredible.

    Hi mate,

I am trying to figure out one thing but cant seem to get the answer anywhere, please help me out on it.

I will connect the receiver with with the speakers i mentioned. The front towers have two integrated sub woofers in them. can i connect them individually to the receiver as dedicated sub woofers so the receiver can send all the bass signals there or will they run as part of the front left and front right channels?

My next problem is I plan on connecting it to my PC. I have a 4k UHDTV that i use for gaming and also movies from the PC. but how do I connect the receiver to PC for 9.2(soon i hope) or 7.2 channel audio transmission? I cant connect it via HDMI 2.0 that I am using to connect my TV to the PC because if I do that this reciever is not capable of handling 4k and does not support over HDMI 1.4. I cant connect though optical cause i think that limits it to only 5.1? Any way to connect it?

Sorry if im being too annoying but i cant seem to find any answers from my search....will very helpful if you could answer? :)

Yep your tower speaker have built in powered subwoofers so you run the the normal left and right speaker wire to the towers but you also run an RCA cable from the subwoofer output of the AVR to each of the towers. The 4311 has two subwoofer outputs so you can run one from each.

A possible solution is HDMI from PC to 4k TV and then using the analog 7.1 RCA outputs from the PC to connect to the AVR if you have them. There are no 9.1 (or 7.2, only 7.1) encoded tracks as far as I know, if you are planning to use 9.1 with front wides or heights these are all up mixed by the AVR from the 5.1 or 7.1 track.

Not annoying at all, I learnt most of what I know from folk on here so I'm only happy to help other regardless of whether we make a trade or not! :)

Thanks mate. I liked the receiver alot but i cant figure out how to connect to my PC.

I checked and found HDMI cant send only audio, it needs to send video signal as well with the audio. So since my PC will be already sending a HDMI signal to my TV at 4k60fps, how will it send another to the receiver with just the audio?

about the analogue signals from the PC, i can buy a budget sound card to send 9.2 signals. but then the receiver will not process or up-scale the audio any-more,right? Cause most of the things I will play is going to be at 5.1 maximum. So i need something to upmix it to 7.2 (cause I will have 2 subs on each front speakers). And I think the receiver is the best party to upmix cause it will be tuned with my speakers and room acoustics with that including mic. So it will produce the best results.

So how should i connect it you think?

Comes with everything supplied, I thot tbh it looked/looks better in silver. Google says it's about 15.5 kg boxed. Sorry that's as low as I'd be prepared to go, best sounding amp I ever had but neighbours complaints etc

Did you read up about the Onkyo 828? any good for your needs?

as for your issue on audio, why can't you split HDMI signal at source? one HDMI output to your TV, other to the receiver, that's what most people do

I was struggling between the two denons so the onkyo didnt get any attention. sorry about it. I will look into it and let you know. I am starting to feel this whole hi-fi thing is alot harder than just the headphone and amp audiophile-ing i was in all these years:confused:

Room correction is really going to blow your mind if you're used to just a DAC, amp and speakers!
