Not confirmed, but some very interesting rumours of Microsoft looking to buy (or may have already bought) Vivendi's games division. Could potentially be very big considering all the games that could be involved. (Warcraft and Half-Life just to name the big 2)

Given time I am sure MS will own half the planet!

If they do buy Valve - tell em to hurry up with Half-Life 2  :D

Well I really hope M$ dont get Valve and Blizzard as look what happened to Rare they bought them out so they got exclusive rights to all their games and now theyve closed their doors. :(

Maybe it's because I was always into Sega and not Nintendo and kinda missed the whole Rare/Goldeneye/N64 thing. But, I don't see how reportedly paying $375 million for Rare is a good investment?

I know MS are in this for the long term, but It will be a long time before they see any profit from this deal.

    Or have I missed something?

Sheesh, took me 3 days to find my post with the new category structure. :)

It's good to see a company who is willing to splash a little cash around. Nintendo hasn't given Sony much direct competition since the PS1. They are content to continue working in their specific market. MS, on the other hand, is taking Sony head-on. Despite what you think of both companies, I think this is good for the console industry. Plus, Nintendo don't seem to be going anywhere. More choice = Good.

Nah, MS still produces PC games. They are just using exclusives like Halo to spur console sales. They aren't about to abandon their PC game market.

Besides, with the prices on XBoxes, they are practically paying you to play them! (considering the money lost on a console, this isn't so far from the truth) :D

On the original rumour, I haven't heard much about it since, so it was probably just that... a rumour.

Why do people call them M$ - their doing exactly what Sony did a few years ago with a huge budget and trying to muscle into the marker - last time I checked $ony was a multi billion dollar company as well

Yeah, but Microsoft is the evil empire, and Sony are just altruists who care about the gamers and would give their games away if they could.

Sorry, that fanboy propaganda is just overwhelming. :D

I find Microsoft games some of the best. They are always well laid out and the game play is great. I'm sure that if the take over of these companys are true then games can only get better.
