Just saw one on ebay, never new they made one till now...
Yes, looks cool see this thread.
Are they available yet? What price?
One for £80 Buy-it-Now on ebay at the moment
I'd buy it if I had a big screen tv..
really been looking forward to this - only thing is I just found out it only uses infrared - not RF/BT.....
so I am a little worried about how things like the mouse will work....
still - probably get one anyway....
I have the MS remote.
Am i correct in assuming that this will work off the MS remote reciever aswell as the remote itself.
Would be a pain if you have to have 2 recievers, as i have built mine into my case.
pre-orders here: http://www.mediacomputers.co.uk/shop/acatalog/Wireless_Keyboards_and_Mice.html
yep - it uses the standard IR reciever you had with your remote control
I was expecting to do the "normal" dollar to pound conversion method...!
ie. swap the $99 with a £ to get the UK price......£99
nice surprise....if true
Ooh, exciting - I was also expecting the pricing to be much more than that, and using the existing MCE remote receiver is very useful.
Does it mean though that there has to be a clear line of site between the keyboard and the receiver, as there has to be with the remote, that may be a bit restricting?
first review I have found (although the pics are not what I would call "hands on")
Nice review, I still want one - they are suggesting $120 retail price, will we really get them for £40?
as it is not using any extra BT/RF hardware (only infra red) i hope so.....
$ to £ conversion is finally coming true i hope...! (check out the latest Xbox 360 threads - $299 in the US £209 here)...
the review say it uses the same ir receiver that the standard MCE remote comes with, so there is no RF with this?
Well, I've paid for one from these people - lets hope the price stays the same.
I got the "Logitech diNovo Cordless Desktop", I love it, the keyboard is amazing, and it has meida keys to, I recommend that for a good desktop keyboard..., it's really thin and has notebook style keys, has good range to...
Let me try and clear up the pricing issue as many are quoting our pricing for these keyboards. Information is pretty hard to come by so as we say on the website this is the pricing we "hope" will be final. We have them on backorder through the distributors at this price and we believe they are working from the latest MS price list.
As far as we can find out there are two versions of this keyboard available. The ZV1-0007 is the UK (Pound Sign) Retail product with the fancy packaging and you should get these in PCWorld etc. We expect this to retail for £99.00 which is being quoted by Microsoft PR and most recently this month's PC Pro. The price we are quoting is for the ZV7-0007 which is the OEM version available as a three pack like the MCE Remote control. Like the remote we are unbundling these and selling them individually. We still can't tell exactly what the differences are, such as does the retail product include the receiver whereas the OEM expects the user to have the existing IR Receiver. Just to confuse matters there are also International English versions that don't have a pound sign.
Microsoft is not alone in offering OEM and Retail versions of the same product many others including Creative and Logitech do the same. Importantly the OEM products will not be supported directly by the manufacturer only by the OEM supplier i.e. us.
Hope this helps and keep your fingers crossed we are right.
Great, thanks for the info - who are you? And do you have any idea when you are likely to have stock?
Got my OEM's on order my supplier has quoted me 6 days lead time so lets hope he has them
Our link is in post #7 of this thread. I have to be careful what I say as I've had my fingers rapped for mentioning my company when I'm not an advertiser.
Microsoft have an embargo on these until the 1st of Spetember so if anyone gets them sooner they run the risk of Microsoft'c wrath. Current delivery date is 2nd for OEM and 7th for retail product.
I'll post a quick review when we get stock in case anyone is thinking about getting one
That would be great, I'll look out for it
Me too the keyboard looks very cool, was hoping it was gonna be RF wireless, but IR is still ok
I've ordered one, it looks oretty cool.
I am little worried abotu the mouse, I have never liked the sticks in the middle of the notebook keyboards. I am planning on stealing the wireless keyboard / mouse and having them in the study. Means I'll be restricted to that mouse in the living room.
I plan not to have to use a nouse much though. On my tv you can't really use the MCE in normal windows mode. Once I have got it set up I'll be removing the 15" monitor I have in there at the moment. From then on I'll do boring stuff like windows update ect over remote desktop.
Keyboard looks good though, lookign forward to getting it.
another review giving the
I have to agree. Although I don't have one of these I have used one extensivley around a friends and it really rocks. I like the fact the number pad comes off and acts as a small portable remote.
The microsoft product will have to do a LOT to beat this baby.
It's worth checking out to compare against before buying the MS product.
Just ordered on - £50 inc delivery - I hope this comes though - great price - have to say i'd been put off by the £80-100 price bracket.
OK, Retail version just delivered haven't had time to test yet so just first impressions. Hope OEM version will arrive next week.
Definitely requires MCE remote receiver, no receiver included.
Have to download and install "Update Rollup 1 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP MCE" from MS windows update site
Volume and TV buttons programmable like MCE Remote but you can use Shift Volume up/down to control PC volume as well as TV
Keyboard Lockout switch when not in use
Pointer is tiny like a laptop pointer but does move
Separate My Music, My Radio key, My Pictures, My Videos, My TV and Messenger Key.
Box was marked "Contains enhanced UK English 105 key layout" There are also International English versions in the UK that don't have a £ so be careful which one you get.
Usual MS quality product.
Will update once we've had time to use it a bit
Just ordered one from Dabs.com, 1 left in stock if anyone fancies it. £68 including next day delivery, bit dearer than suggested on here, but who cares
im going to get one eventually but next perchase is going to be 2 Win TV Nova freeview cards which take priority
they do look pritty cool tho !
First impressions, the mouse is a real pain in the arse, fiddly as hell to move to where you want it, will try seeing if there are any setting I can modify for it
