I have put together a WMCPC and have a frustrating problem. It appears that the IR control cables are not working.

I have stuck one to the IR receiver on my set top box but it does not light up when I press the numbers buttons on the Microsoft remote. Am I missing something obvious or is it a dud?

It's in really firmly and it doesn't flash so I guess it's broken.
