Planning on some BFD subwoofer calibration using room wizard and a BFD (Behringer DSP1124P for those that dont know what a BFD is)

Will be using an M-audio Firewire 410 soundcard , as this has midi to control the BFD, a decent mike input (that supports phantom power) , high quality line level outputs, and firewire so can be used with a laptop easily.

Problem is I dont have a microphone, so can anyone suggest a good quality microphone with suitable frequency response ( good low response needed) that does not cost a fortune ?

    Any links to suppliers appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mark.

The Behringer ECM8000 is a mic that is often recommended for low cost measurements. It is phantom powered, but in the professional sense. I think the M-audio cards phantom power is for electret capsules, i.e. low voltage unbalanced, rather than the 48v balanced that the Behringer needs.

My laptop doesn't have a midi port :(

Is there any other way to control the BFD? Some sort of USB - midi converter or would i have to purchase a seperate external sound card :( (more money)

Can anybody recommend an inexpensive soundcard that will be suitable for using Room Wizard with a SPL meter; my old soundblaster doesn't appear to have enough connectivity.
