Looking for a remix of this for a friend, released about 18 months ago, remixed by a geman dude apparently. Anyone know where I'd still be able to get it for them? Had a look on Gemm but can't decipher the site

Is it that godawful rave thing your talkin' about "put your hands in the air/like you don't care"?

If it is then it's not a "remix" it's some Irish dj "mc"ing over a rave track that uses part of the music from Maniac.

Terrible injustice to a mega song.

TBH I've never heard it, one of the gilrs I work with heard it on a night out and thought it was good, the "DJ" (and I use that term loosely) said it was released 18 months ago in 12" by a german bloke.

It was out 3 years ago (hence Maniac 2000) and it was an Irish DJ by the name of Mark McCabe:

    "MANIAC 2000- Mark McCabe 2000

Mark McCabe set the Irish Music Industry alight when his single "Maniac 2000" entered the Irish Charts at No.2 on the 21st Feb 2000. Two weeks later he leapt into the No.1 spot outselling All Saints, Madonna and Backstreet Boys and preventing Westlife from achieving their seven consecutive number ones in Ireland!

Mark started life as a sound engineer and is now one of the biggest names on the Irish dance music scene – with his own nightly show on 2FM. The song came from an original cover of the 80’s Maniac song (from the movie Fame) by a band called ‘4 Rhythm’ 6 years ago – DJs were playing this as a 12” record and doing their own rap over the music – Mark had his own version which he played on his show when he was a DJ with Pulse FM – it became more and more requested and was FM104’s most requested song in 1998 before it was even released!

Maniac 200 was also the biggest selling single of 2000 and Mark won ‘Best Selling Irish Single – Male’ at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards held in The Point this year The Meteor Awards were the ultimate test for Mark – he was put in a room with everyone who matters in the Irish music industry and performing on stage with David Gray, Elton John and Ronan Keating wasn’t easy– however it all came good for him in the end and the Award gave him the just the nod of respect he needed!

Mark’s success with Maniac has given him a chance to progress musically – as he says himself people in the music business know that he exists so now its up to him to prove himself – and judging by his performance so far that shouldn’t be too difficult!"

It was recorded it live in a Cork nightclub or something. The best line of the song is "oggy, oggy, oggy - oi, oi, oi". Absolutely diabolical.

Ask your female colleague if her ears are painted on :D
