Filmmakers J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves will help composer Michael Giacchino celebrate the half-century mark during his 50th birthday concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall next month.

I'm surprised that nobody has posted on this thread. As a big fan of Giacchino,I would have love to have gone, but couldn't make the venue on that date, despite there still being a few tickets available. Anyone else going? If so, I'd love to hear your reaction afterwards.

Well, nobody appears to have gone, but I've found some very decent quality links for some of the various suites performed on Friday -

The 'Rogue One' set is one of the best imo. Stirring stuff! -

I'm a big fan of the new Trek reboots, and this set helps demonstrate why -

I love how these guys sit there and film and put it on YouTube. If that was a play or film this is serious copyright infringement. I hope he was too busy filming and checking social media to enjoy the actual live event happening in front of him!

This seems to be the norm at concerts these days. Personally, although it's nice to see these clips(as I wasn't able to make it), I never bother with this myself - it takes away from the experience of being there and absorbing the whole thing.
I saw Hans Zimmer recently (along with a fair few AVF members), and I couldn't get over the amount of the audience filming it's entirety on their phones.

yeah seems to be the way today. There's a fair few at football, there was a famous press photo at Man City recently, when Aguero is receiving the ball and in the crowd are about 1500 mobile phones pointed at him.

I haven't been to a film composer concert since the early two-thousands and obviously no smart phones back then. Having never thought about it until now (what its likely to be like now), I appreciate the heads-up. Maybe I'm just just a miserable git who only goes to enjoy the performance, but I'd find that seriously distracting.
