First they remade Get Carter, then The Italian Job. Now we are told of planned remakes of Alfie and Sleuth. I suppose Zulu and The Ipcress File will be next.

    It makes me very sad:(

Yep the one that really riles me is the Italian Job, rarely does a remake ever come close to the original.

And when the original is so good anyway the only point in doing a remake is so that  Hollywood producers  can cash in.

    Muppet xmas carol is great.

Agree tho most remakes are not worth the bother - The shot by shot remake of Psycho being the dumbest thing ever.

The Italian Job isn't really going to be a reamke tho in the same way that Red Dragon was of Manhunter so we'll just have to wait and see - might be fun.

I did briefly have an interest in seeing The Italian Job remake due to the cast list (particularly Ed Norton) but it has really terrible reviews.

If they're gonna remake Blame It On Rio, they better get another decent bird to get her chozzers out as that was the only reason for me watching the original (many times over).

I recall really liking The Swarm when I saw it on TV. Although it was naff, it had a bit of charm about it.

I'm a big fan of Sleuth, so I am very curious about the remake. I wonder who the cast will be - any confirmed yet? I can see that this movie could well be improved by a remake for one reason:

SPOILER (highlight blank area below to read)

The scenes where Michael Caine returns as a detective are rather ruined when watching these days, as he is such a big star that it is difficult NOT to recognise him, although his voice is a massive giveaway anyway. In the remake, I would hope that at least they could do a proper makeup job on the actor for these scenes so that it is not so bloody obvious (me in my Michael Caine mode now :D ) who it is!

    END OF SPOILER

The cast for the Sleuth remake is said to be Michael Caine, now playing the Laurence Olivier part and Jude Law, fresh from his successful sitcom "Coming Down With the Flu" playing the Michael Caine hairdresser part.

We are probably the only 2 people in the world that enjoyed this film Squirrel. I too haven’t seen it for some time but I remember enjoying it although the premise does seem a little far fetched. They did get some big actors to take part in it, and I seem to remember there were a lot of TV movies out about the same time with similar stories.

Hey, if Michael Caine is going to be in it, that'd be pretty cool :) The one problem is, he lacks the 'grace' that Laurence Olivier commanded in the original role. Let's face it, we've seen him play 'posh' in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and he just can't do it :D

Doesn't look promising for a DVD release then :D
